WATCH: LUCAS TILL TAKES SELFIES WITH A MONSTER IN 'MONSTER TRUCKS' TRAILER
Who knew sea creatures could operate land vehicles so well?
Lucas Till stars alongside Suburgatory Jane Levy and mysterious giant slug-whale-squid-things in the trailer for Monster Trucks, which is, to say the least, quite unique.
The trailer starts off with some very epic superhero music, paired with shots of Lucas Till (X-Men: First Class) in his Havok glory. The first thought that went through my head was “wow, they decided to make another X-Men spin off?”.
But I was so wrong.
Tripp (Till) rebels against these men that are looking for exactly what he’s found; a mysterious sea monster that’s been eating through cars. But he soon becomes friends with the monster who in turn, functions as the engine for Tripp's old truck. His main aim soon becomes getting ‘Creech’ (yes, that’s what he named it) back to his family. Cue the aww-ing.
From there, they end up finding his family and make this insane monster truck squad that flips other trucks driven by, presumably, the villains.
I have no idea what to think about the trailer but the fact that it’s equal parts funny, original and cringeworthy. On top of that, it kind of makes you think that this could be the love child of Hot Wheels and the deep ocean.
Who knows? Hopefully, the movie, dropping January 2017, will make more sense because the trailer has me, and many others, still going WTF.
