San E's crew dabs until they can dab no more in Like An Airplane. Did someone just say bihaenggi?
Dominating both the underground and mainstream scene, rapper San E returns with his new single ‘Like an Airplane,’ featuring Gary of Leesang (although it does seem to be missing an awful lot of him in the music video).
Unlike many music videos, Like an Airplane oddly cuts off a part of its song, which is to me the best part of the track. This happens to be Gary’s feature, which I find quite strange, but maybe it’s because they couldn’t recruit him to shoot the music video with San E. Oh well.
Korea’s trend is to match it’s current music to their seasons, and San E is no exception as Like an Airplane is a perfectly suited tune to the blossoming season of Spring.
San E raps about his girl's friends being friends with his friends and having fun together. Drinking goes hand in hand with that I imagine.
The tune is catchy and fun. But is there a problem? Maybe the artist himself. San E's voice suits the song very well, even better than Gary’s, but in all honesty, I think Gary’s verse was far better than San E's. Maybe I just want what I can't have... which is Gary to actually be present.
With a catchy song comes a random video. There was no plot to this, it didn’t even have anything to do with a plane (other than the first few paper planes that pop up). All San E does is wave his hands around while his friends dab their way into the video.
A majority of the music video is taken in one shot, with a calming spring backdrop following San E and his dudes taking a leisurely stroll, seemingly to his friend's apartment if you watch until the end. The editing team takes full advantage of modern technology, using various CGI effects to create popping animations, literally. They literally pop out of San E and his squad, making the music video much more eye catching and fun.
Talking about squad, this video shows us a team that almost rivals Taylor Swift and her girl squad. Not to mention, there’s a guy who’s managed to catch on to the current dabnation trend. *Sigh*
Like an Airplane is annoyingly catch. It's likely that you will catch me singing it in the middle of the day sometime, so keep your phones handy.
