Film: 'Ashby' Trailer is Coming-of-Age Meets Mickey Rourke

Film: 'Ashby' Trailer is Coming-of-Age Meets Mickey Rourke

From 'The Fault In Our Stars' and 'Paper Towns,' Nat Wolff is still struggling to break out of being typecast within teenage-fiction and coming-of-age. Wolff stars as Ed, the new kid in town who can't take a hit and continues to get bullied. He meets Mickey Rourke, an elderly gentleman who was once a C.I.A. operative and has killed over 90 people. Emma Roberts falls into irrelevant obscurity as the girl Ed likes, but a love-line had to fit in somewhere.

'Ashby' suffers from showing too much of the movie in its first trailer. As an audience, we already know the complication, the end, the final kiss and where our characters end up.

The Mickey Rourke twist on the coming-of-age genre seems interesting enough, but there's not enough mystery to make this must watch.

I can't help but wonder why we are meant to watch this movie except to satisfy our thirst for teenagers and half-assed romance.
