RECAP: SUITS, S6EP4 – LOVE CONQUERS ALL
Suits has smart writers and there’s no doubt about that. Four episodes into the season and they have a clear direction, exploring the relationships between characters. This episode they chose to look at love in all its forms (including bromance) and its power to manipulate people.
Mike had a fun little adventure this week. First he was told to turn on Kevin for freedom but Mike’s a loyal man, so he declines which is honestly the most interesting part. It shows how Harvey and Mike’s relationship dynamic has shifted this season. Harvey used to be the straight shooter while Mike used to be the loophole guy. Now though, Mike wants to take the straight route and serve out his sentence. Meanwhile, Harvey is attempting to pull every string to get Mike out. Harvey seems kinda obsessive and clingy at this point and his actions in the episode didn’t help either.
Harvey got Mike drugged so that he could bang Rachael and accept the freedom offer. Harvey went full psycho at that point, which was actually a pleasant twist because I thought either Frank or even Kevin had done that to him. Also Harvey did play the smart game because as all people know, love conquers all, and by love I mean the power of boners. Regardless it sets up the next episode very nicely and it’ll be interesting to see how informant Mike works out.
The subplots this week were thin with Rachael once again being an irrelevant and boring side character. She worked on her innocent program thing for a bit and that was about it, until she came back to have sex with Mike at the end. Such a wasted character who is also wasting screen time. I wish she was more like Jessica, who is a fucking badass. Now she is a power player and when she comes on screen, you feel her presence. She out played the banker tenants and signed them as clients. Mad respect for her.
Louis got Litt up with love this week with his perfect counterpart. Louis hired Tara to redesign the offices but she just stole his heart instead. It’s cute and nice to see Louis hopefully finding someone after that other stupid love storyline he had going. Once again Louis provided the laughs in the episode, breaking up the tense nature of the other plots.
This week’s episode was weaker than the previous one, with nothing really happening in the show. Wasn’t the biggest fan of Harvey’s tactics but I guess he’s willing to play dirty with emotional manipulation at this point. It’ll be interesting to see where they take it.
