RECAP: SUITS, S6EP7 – ONE STEP FORWARD, TWO STEPS BACK
Every week I talk about how I want the show to move forward and advance the plot so we can get out of this whole prison arc. Turns out they listened to me (must’ve read all my PBS articles). Unfortunately, they only listened to me for the first half of the episode before deciding that prison is far more interesting than being an actual lawyer.
Harvey is just committing crimes left and right, being a pretty shitty lawyer and generally doesn’t really do much. Regardless though I’ll give the show credit for making every scene with him and Cahill seem like the “make or break” part of the show. It keeps tensions high and allows the audience to feel like the plot is making progress, until the end scene that is. The SEC pulls Mike’s deal. What dicks. Like come on. Just get the damn guy out of prison already. I get that the writers want to get him out the right way but please do that soon cause Mike’s not having a great time in there and neither are the audience when we have to watch those scenes.
Jessica and Rachel had some great moments this episode (a first for Rachel this season). The opening of the episode is one of the most powerful scenes I’ve ever seen, especially when you add Jessica to the mix. While Rachel was all over the place, Jessica never showed any emotion and kept her cool the entire time. It was a great visual contrast and shows off Jessica’s experience and control. It’s the reason she deserves to be at the top. Unfortunately, it all went downhill for their witness search when it turns out that she died a few years back. Hard to make a case without a witness so it’ll be interesting to see where they take this storyline.
Louis was back to his old self in the episode. Not the evil old self but the one with passion for his work and the drive to get things done. It was also nice to see him make up with the traders. Once again though, things took a turn when Tara told him about her half yearly boyfriend. It was stupid. Just let Louis have this and honestly he will get her in the end but why do you have to add this stupid scenario to the mix? If we ever see her boyfriend though, I would like him to be played by some huge jacked guy. Probably John Cena. Yup, that’s perfect. John Cena as Tara’s boyfriend. It would also explain the six-month thing well.
All in all, it was a mixed episode. All the plots felt like they were going somewhere and then amounted to shit all. It makes all the previous episodes of the season feel like a waste of time and could have been handled better. Maybe next week we get a better episode. #makesuitsgreatagai
