REcap: GOT Season 6, EP1 - NUDITY, DEATH & DOTHRAKI MARITAL LAW
Oh, Game of Thrones.
How you tease us so.
For almost every life you take, you match that with on-screen boobs.
Whilst that may not compensate, EP1 titled 'The Red Woman' is a direct continuation from the end of Season 5.
The devastation on Ser Davos' face when he finds Jon Snow's dead body provides a stark reminder that directors David Benioff and DB Weiss don't intend on resurrecting The Lord Commander just yet.
Melisandre (going nude) + her sudden ageing at the end of the episode appears to be a sacrifice; possibly to revive Jon or maybe just a loss of faith in the Lord of Light?
The small pool of people who seem to take the threat of the White Walkers seriously is diminishing slowly.
Meanwhile, further south Sansa Stark and Reek successfully divorce from Ramsay as Brienne come to their rescue and becomes Sansa's official guard. A big change from the Sansa of last season who initially refused Brienne's help.
The death of Ramsay's trusted accomplice/occasional fuck buddy Myranda doesn't leave us too sad. His decision to feed her dead body to the hounds is just the cherry on top.
Arya, now blind, homeless and begging on the streets is being severely punished for not following the laws of the House of Shadows. Revenge was the only motivation keeping her alive for so long and now her fate is uncertain.
On the other side of the world, our beloved Khaleesi is being subject to Dothraki marital law, ordered to live out her days as some sort of servant. Going back to the season 6 trailer, it looked like (potential spoiler) her dragon will come to rescue her out of the blue? So far the Khaleesi will be fine, we hope.
White walker denier and political commentator Tyrion Lannister is now the acting leader of Meereen. His effortless cynicism and charming philosophical musings about power are foreshadowing something sinister. The Sons of the Harpy, as always prove to be a constant pain and have now torched all the ships in the harbour. How Tyrion will be able to reign control is anyone's guess.
As Cercei discovers another one of her children has died, it unites her with her brother/lover Jamie whilst the Sand Snakes have killed a second royal, their own Prince of Dorne.
All in all, a fantastic start to the season that leaves more questions than it solves. Will The Sons of the Harpy take control over Mereen before Danaerys can get back? How will Cercei and Jamie take down their enemies? Will Sansa's new squad be able to survive for another season?
P.S.
Dear Game of Thrones showrunners:
We would happily exchange less nudity for more lives of main characters.
Regards,
GOT fans.
