Songs for children's movies don't have to be good. They can be forgettable, cheesy and shallow because it's for kids. But when the lead single just happens to be Justin Timberlake's first music since 2013, you kind of go in with expectations.
'CAN'T STOP THE FEELING!' doesn't even try to be a good song. It's got shallow lyrics, an uninspired pop beat and a bunch of actors from Trolls dancing throughout the video. I'm pretty sure us ordinary people don't get much pleasure in seeing Anna Kendrick and other famed superstars dance. Okay, maybe Anna Kendrick dancing is cool, but it's really not that great a video...
Timberlake's latest single may just be a money grab rather than an indicator of the kind of material we will receive in the future, and I sincerely hope this is the case because he can do so much better.
