WATCH: TRUTH, DARE AND VIRGINIA WOOLF IN 'NERVE' TRAILER; FEAT EMMA ROBERTS AND DAVE FRANCO
From nek-nominate to the condom challenge, the Internet has fast become an arena wherein stupidity and fame have (almost) become one in the same. But what happens when the fun and games take a more sinister turn?
Emma Roberts and Dave Franco play high school seniors who find themselves immersed in an online game of truth or dare, where money and fame come with doing crazy things like kissing a stranger. Soon every move starts to become more and more extreme, manipulated by an anonymous community of ‘watchers’.
The directors of MTV’s Catfish’ and Paranormal 3 bring us what appears to be the love child of a rom-com and action thriller. Like their previous productions, ‘Nerve’ could either go really well or very wrong.
The trailer essentially outlines the plot for you and incorporates a number of scenes that should have been left for the film. By the end of this trailer we've basically seen the whole movie and that's a huge shame. The only thing I am really wondering after watching this is - how will the shootout end?
That being said, I appreciate that the concept of technology empowering and endangering people is being addressed in a new way.
‘Nerve’ is based off the novel by Jeanne Ryan. It opens 27 July.
