FILM: Will Smith Seeks Redemption and The Truth in Trailer for NFL Centric 'Concussion'
Is 'Concussion' Will Smith's first good movie since 2006's 'The Pursuit of Happyness?' Armed with an all-star lineup, a true story and life and death in the world of sports, 'Concussion' could very well be a good, if not great film.
That is, if 'Concussion's' oscar-bait material doesn't overdo it on the melodrama.
Will Smith stars as a doctor who has discovered the link between concussions in NFL and permanent injury, but when confronting the appropriate authorities, he is told to keep it hidden.
Caught between a sports drama and political thriller, the tone could do with some clarification.
Smith is still an incredible actor, but we've seen him overdo it in 'Seven Pounds' and under-act in 'After Earth.' Neither sights were pretty.
Curious to see if Will Smith can be great again? Check out the trailer below and place your bets.
I will say that the ultimate cringe comes at the end of the trailer when Smith is asked "Who Are You?"
And so he responds, "Tell the truth."
Great answer buddy.
Smith is joined by a killer cast including Albert Brooks, Alec baldwin, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Paul Reiser and Luke Wilson.
