WATCH: CHRISTOPHER NOLAN WAR MOVIE 'DUNKIRK' GETS FIRST TRAILER FT. HARRY STYLES
As soon as I heard Christopher Nolan was directing this, I knew it was going to be EPIC. The man who brought you Inception, The Dark Knight and Interstellar is now taking us into the heat of WWII in action-thriller Dunkirk.
Dunkirk has a great cast to get us started, including Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance and Kenneth Branagh. Get keen, Directioner, because Harry Styles will also be making his film debut. Cue the fangirling... Sadly, his pretty face is missing from the trailer, but here's a photo of him looking cute af.
The minute-long trailer is intense, with scenes of what is presumably the beaches and harbour of Dunkirk. France is underscored by the anxiety-inducing sound of a ticking timer. The trailer concludes with a group of Allied soldiers tightly packed into a boat, who become keenly aware of a rapidly descending enemy aircraft.
Interspersed between these cuts are slowly expanding lines of white text giving us the classic ‘[name of crisis]’ ‘Survival is necessary’ script. Frankly, it’s a lame and cheap way of introducing what is historically understood to be one of the amazing MIRACLES of WWII.
Despite this, the trailer looks great, however it doesn’t really give us any more information beyond the fact that Christopher Nolan is making a war movie. Regardless, I’m super hyped for this (or maybe just for Harry Styles in army attire)!
The film tells the story of Operation Dynamo (aka the Miracle of Dunkirk), which involved the rescue of British and Allied troops from advancing German forces.
Synopsis from IMDB.
Dunkirk is set to hit cinemas 21 July 2017.
