WATCH: UP10TION DANCES IN DAYLIGHT IN 'TONIGHT' MV
With it being the last month of summer in South Korea, Up10tion has come back with Tonight (오늘이 딱이야)’ and a music video overwhelmed with summery vibes. To say the least, the song is fun, the music video is rather terrible and the dance is unworthy to the standards that are met in Korean pop.
The video begins with one of the boys waking up on a rock near the ocean, but it doesn't end there. Tonight ends up being one of those music videos - the kind that has cute boys acting cute without any of the charm. Up10tion proceed to act as cheery, adorable teens as they dance around. The only people who could enjoy this kind of stuff are twelve-year-old girls.
Don’t get me wrong, I like to see good looking Asian guys in music videos once in a while, but a music video can be much more than bright colours and dancing. A music video can have a story, give off meaning and supplement a song, rather than be a pretty picture show.
Even though the boys don't dance as much here as in other K-pop MVs, you can tell it’s pretty much crap. We all know you boys have good dance skills, why waste it on shit like this?
That feeling when you see a child with potential turn into a drop kick. That’s the same feeling I get when I watch Up10tion’s new comeback. For all those who are tempted to check this out, my suggestion is don’t.
