WATCH: D.R.A.M. & LIL YACHTY TEAM UP FOR NONSENSICAL 'BROCCOLI' MUSIC VIDEO
Being the spiritual succession to D.R.A.M.'s 'Cha Cha', this song adds a certain lightheartedness to mainstream hip-hop. The eclectic 808, bouncy piano rhythm and chirpy flute makes for a track that doesn't take itself too seriously.
However, the rising star, having just graduated high school last year is 18-year-old Lil Yachty. He has already made his mark on the industry. His hit single 1 Night got him the attention of big name producers like PARTYNEXTDOOR choosing to feature the young man on his highly anticipated third album.
To me, this music video is best described as a cross between absurdist satire and house party effervescence.
With punchy lyrics like, "50 shades of Grey, beat that p****y like Hulk Hogan," they aren't exactly memorable, but make for a fun party track to "roll up my broccoli".
There will be great things ahead for Lil Yachty, if he can keep up the momentum and not fizzle out like many before him.
